Welcome to the Physical Therapy Department of Baldwin Bone and Joint, P.C. We are pleased to have the opportunity to provide physical therapy services for you.
Your physical therapy will begin with an initial evaluation and usually includes treatment. This will occur within 48 hours of receiving the referral from your physician. If your insurance company requires pre-certification, then this process may take longer. We will do all that we can to schedule your appointment within a reasonable amount of time. This is provided as a financial courtesy for each of our patients.
Attending every scheduled appointment is an important factor in determining how well you will recover from your injury or surgery. While we encourage you not to miss appointments, we understand that situations may arise requiring that you miss an appointment. If this occurs, we ask that you call to cancel your visit in advance and reschedule your appointment. If you frequently miss appointments, it may lead to a cancellation of further established appointments. You will be notified of the situation by phone.
If you are under Worker’s Compensation and frequently miss appointments, your case manager will be notified. This may jeopardize your claim, even your job, thus jeopardizing your income while you are out of work.
Everyone responds differently to physical therapy. Some feel better immediately while others may actually experience an initial increase in discomfort. We have found that both responses might be considered as a reason for a patient to discontinue therapy. If you are feeling better, we encourage you to continue so that we can monitor and progress your physical therapy. If your pain is increased, please make us aware and allow us to reassess and address the problem.

General Information Regarding Your Physical Therapy Appointments:
- Please wear comfortable clothing that allows for easy access and treatment for the individual area needing therapy. Suggestions include shorts for knee therapy, sleeveless shirts for shoulder therapy, etc.
- Please check in with our front desk personnel immediately upon arrival.
- After your initial evaluation and treatment, follow-up visits are scheduled according to the frequency and duration prescribed by your physician. Approximate duration for each appointment is as follows:
- Evaluation: 1 ½ Hours
- Follow-up Visits: 45 Minutes to 1 Hour
